Harvard Music Professor to Lecture on Bach at St. John’s College

Professor Christoph Wolff will give the Steiner lecture entitled “Bach’s ‘St. Matthew Passion’in Perspective: History, Text, Music, and Theology,” at St. John’s College. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on Friday, March 30 at 8:15 p.m.
Wolff is Adams University professor, department of music, at Harvard University. Born and educated in Germany, he studied organ and historical keyboard instruments, musicology, and art history at the Universities of Berlin, Erlangen, and Freiburg. Wolff has written widely on the history of music in the 15th to 20th centuries. His most recent book, “Mozart at the Gateway to His Fortune: Serving the Emperor, 1788-1791,” will be published in May 2012.
