Annapolis - Volunteer Opportunities
The Stanton Community Center is located at 92 West Washington Street in Annapolis. The Stanton Community Center is a community resource for children and adults. Community organization offices are located in this building and provide children and adults with recreational and cultural enrichment opportunities and health, medical, therapeutic, and counseling services.
The center features many offices, multi-purpose gymnasium, a commercial kitchen, fitness area, historic classroom, media center with computers, and two conference/meeting rooms. Volunteer opportunities abound, but there is a history of St. John's students volunteering at the center to work with local young people after school.
Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis
The Boys and girls club of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County provides a variety of educational and recreational activities for young people.
There are many different types of volunteers and by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator your skill set, interest and enthusiasm can easily be matched to short or long term volunteer position. Whether you have specialized skills or just love to be around kids, there are many opportunities within our Clubs to volunteer.
Touchstones develops discussion programs that build community and foster dialogue that creates change. Touchstones Discussion Project builds basic learning skills through unique discussion groups which enable people of all cultures, races, and ideologies to communicate with each other and to uncover common goals and visions. They become active life-long learners and develop skills to map and navigate an ever-changing future.
Touchstones was created by tutors of St. John's College and typically has opportunities available for St. John's students.
Bello Machre's mission is to provide homes, support, and loving care for individuals with developmental disabilities, enabling them to participate as fully as they wish in all aspects of community life.
Volunteer Opportunities include: individual mentoring, other assistance to people housed in Bello Machre homes, driving individuals to social activities, fundraising events, and more!
Anne Arundel County Visitation Programs
Anne Arundel County Visitation programs are designed to bring together volunteers and residents of homeless shelters, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult day-care centers, and hospitals who would enjoy your companionship.
Life Enrichment is one of these opportunities where volunteers can brighten someone's day by visiting a resident in a long term care facility. During a visit, volunteers can read to residents, take them for a walk or a wheelchair ride, sit and talk, or simply listen. Volunteer visitors bring a little of the outside world to people who may not get regular visits from family and friends.
Hospice of the Chesapeake's mission is to improve the quality of life for those in our communities experiencing advanced illness or bereavement through hospice and other palliative care, compassionate support and education.
Hospice of the Chesapeake has a variety of volunteer opportunities available including patient care volunteers, camp counselor volunteers, hospice house volunteers (serving meals, cleaning, yard work), public relations, administrative tasks, and more!
