As winter progresses and turns into spring, the question on every student’s mind is how to best spend their summer vacation. Choosing between getting a job, traveling with family, volunteering, or participating in sports can be difficult. For students who are eager to see the possibilities that college can offer and want to explore new activities, the Summer Academy at St. John’s College offers the perfect opportunity to pursue academic interests while fueling their sense of adventure.
The 2013 Summer Academy at St. John’s College invites rising high school juniors and seniors to join like-minded students from around the country for a week or more of reading and discussing some of Western civilization’s foundational works and ideas. The Academy offers five thematic sessions in two vibrant locations -- Santa Fe, New Mexico and Annapolis, Maryland. No matter which session you choose, we’re confident you or the book-loving student in your family will gain new perspectives and unforgettable friendships at the Summer Academy.
The Summer Academy also offers a taste of college life: each week you’ll take classes with college faculty; stay in campus dorms; live alongside our undergraduate Residential Assistants, eat in our college dining halls; as well as explore the art, history and cultures of the local community. The following pages will give you an overview of the Summer Academy at St. John’s, but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
We hope to meet you this summer,
