St. John’s alumni span
the globe as learners and
leaders, as people who
never stop inquiring after
the truth—however elusive
it may remain. Having
shared the demands and
rewards of the college’s
unique community, they
seldom lose their sense of connection to other Johnnies. Some maintain
that they can recognize fellow alumni anywhere; others grow so attached
to sharing the life of ideas that they choose to spend their lives with another
Johnnie. Today’s 11,000+ alumni form a network of people who understand
one another and prize the education they have in common. As a community
of friendship, collegiality, and thought, there is none stronger.
Who are
St. John’s
alumni?
In many areas across the
country,
alumni have
organized themselves
into groups called
chapters. As lifelong
learners, they crave the
stimulation they knew
in St. John’s seminars—
and they find it with
other alumni, who
know from practice
how good conversation
works. Alumni chapters
regularly invite tutors to
visit and lead seminars.
Alumni stay connected
to the college
through
participation in Home-
comings, Summer
Alumni Programs, and
Croquet Weekend. All are
automatically members
of the Alumni Associa-
tion, which has chapters
around the country.
Some act as admission
representatives to mentor
prospective students;
others volunteer to
help current students
explore career options.
Johnnies enjoy remark-
able career flexibility.
Increasingly, students
attending colleges with
majors can find their
knowledge outdated
after graduation.
St. John’s alumni, on
the contrary, retain
the value of the college’s
integrated, universal
approach to learning—
and can apply their
skills in any walk of life.
